Pretty pieces of lumber at discounted prices in our "one-off" rack!

This is a section of our lumber rack where we group unique pieces from prior loads and discount them by 10%.

Some of these pieces are really neat and hard to find.

If you don't mind digging through the lift, there are some real gems at great prices that can be used for a variety if projects.

There is a little bit of everything in the rack- figured exotics, domestics (see pic of claro walnut above), crotch, small slabs, etc.

Some of our clients only concentrate on this rack when they drop by the shop knowing that they can find some great pieces at great prices.

Check out this pieces pictured above-

10 foot piece of "real" genuine mahogany from the 1950's. This is the golden brown tight grained stuff and not that salmon colored junk that most wood shops try to pass off as mahogany. And at 10% off you can't beat it!

We aren't going to lie- some pieces have cracks and are oddly shaped, but we figure at the right price there is a use for everything here at the shop.

(At 14 inches wide and at a discounted price, we are sure one or two of you can find a use for the pretty piece of zebrawood pictured above!)

Feel free to drop by the shop and dig through the rack to see what you can find. If you don't know where to look, just ask for the "one off" rack and we will point you in the right direction.

Exotic Wood Boxes by Dean Moore

This Jewelery box by Dean Moore, won the American Woodworker "Love of Wood" award at this years Design in Wood exhibit at the 2008 San Diego County Fair.

As you can see Dean carefully selected a very unique piece of cocobolo lumber and combined it with some very figured flamed Koa. We think the combination worked out perfectly.
Here we see a box made out of primarily figured Walnut but with some accent pieces of other woods as well such as Ebony. Look at how all the different figures and colors go together nicely.

This one is made of granadillo. We have carried granadillo for years but it never really was a big seller. Since no one had really heard of it, every one wanted to stick to the well known woods . We had three lifts of the wood in the back that had been at the shop for well over 10 years. Recently people have started to notice the beauty of the wood and have started to purchase it like crazy. We still have some lumber left and hopefully will be receiving more in the near future.

This is a fiddleback Eucalyptus humidor with a quilted maple top. I believe there is also some Cocobolo in the mix as well. People are very hesitant when we tell them about the fiddleback Eucalyptus, they always want curly maple. Like the granadillo example, this box shows that there are hundreds of different woods out there that look amazing. Curly maple isn't the only curly wood out there. As you can see by this box, curly isn't a problem here. But if you do want curly maple and that's what tickles your fancy, we did just received a batch of 5/4 curly maple that will knock your socks off.

Here's another one that demonstrates how different combinations of woods really look visually appealing in boxes.
Look at the quilted Bubinga top lined with curly maple. Really looks nice. Can you imagine sticking a strip of snakewood ,curly pernambuco, ceylon satinwood, figured purpleheart?

Another Gorgeous Box by Dean Moore

In this piece were looking at quilted maple on the top, cocobolo rosewood around the edges and Fiddleback Tasmanian Eucalyptus on the sides.

This is a good one for anyone who wants some curl but is skeptical about using anything other than maple. As you can see by finished product, Fiddleback Eucalyptus looks great.

Updated--Tasmanian Slabs #1-20

received a pair of book matched 8/4 slabs of Curly Eucalyptus. These pieces are highly figured and are natural edged. A bit of defect here and there, but would be a great distressed table.

This slab is amost 30" wide and 10 feet long, now thats a nice table!

*MOST AUSSIE SLABS HAVE SOLD, PLEASE GIVE US A CALL FOR AN UPDATE ON THE NEXT SHIPMENT
