Coolibah Burl Bass Guitar by Customer James Dellaneve

Customer James Dellaneve recently dropped by the shop to pick up some wood for his next project and also brought by this neat electric bass he constructed using some of our wood.

The body and headstock are out of a coolibah burl cap he purchase from us a while back.

Coolibah is tight grained burl we occasionally import from Australia along with other neat burl species such as Tasmanian Eucalyptus, Brown Mallee, Jarrah and Rose Myrtle.

We always have a healthy supply of burl material in assorted dimensions including the large caps pictured below. These species are a great choice for a variety of woodworking projects because of their figure, workability and low-cost compared to other high-end burls.

Parting Shot-Day 1 of the Parking Lot Sale.

Day one of the Parking Lot Sale is in the books. Great showing today by a bunch a great people. Hopefully everybody found a piece (or in most cases-tons of pieces) that will work nicely for them.

From the moment we opened until the time we close up the shop (turned out to be 6pm), we were selling all sorts of neat and hard to find pieces of exotic wood-Lumber, Slabs, Turning Stock, Logs, Billets, etc...

The highlight of the day was selling the our large Mun Ebony billet. It was kind of sad to see it go but we are sure it will look amazing once it is finished.

Anyways here is a parting shot for all of you that plan on visiting us in the next couple of days. Hopefully it gets you guys excited to pick up some neat woods.-

Another happy customer- Large burl caps, masur birch, cocobolo, snakewood.
Talk about a kid in a candy store!

These are some serious burls! If you are up for the challenge we have got some stuff that will knock your socks off!

Fits like a glove...

Who needs a pickup truck when you have an $80,000 Audi with a trunk like that!

See everyone tomorrow for day two of the sale!

Updated--Tasmanian Slabs #70-99

We know this one isn't numerically in between #70-99, but its one that got away from us and never was included in the original post.

Sorry, we have so much wood here its hard to keep track of it all.

*MOST OF THE AUSSIE SLABS HAVE SOLD, PLEASE GIVE US A CALL FOR AN UPDATE ON THE NEXT SHIPMENT

Anyways here it is-its a beauty!!!

Updated--Tasmanian Slabs #31-40

This is one of the numerous sets of Bookmatched Rose myrtle slabs. Together your looking at about 3 feet in width, natural edge on both sides and mirror images of the mixed curly figure, this would be a great dining table.

If you are looking for length these next few are nice options. Very nice curly figure throughout the slabs. These particular pieces are alot blonder than most of the Rose Myrtle that we have in stock. If that pinkish-red hue isn't really what your looking for, these are good lighter-colored alternatives with the same great figure.

New Aussie Slabs on the way!!!

All these Blackheart Sassafrass slabs I selected as they were coming off the mill last year when I was in Tasmania. They were too good not to get!
These guys are wild looking. Blackheart Sassafrass.

Curved figured Rose Myrtle slab. Sam Maloof purchased a few of these for benched in his compound. I think this would make a great head board!
