This design could also be used in a waterfall coffee table, taller console table or even a bartop.

Tiny turned bowls and vases by the late Jerry Glaser!
We are surprised miniature woodturning has not made a come back yet.
Seemed to be fairly popular in the 1980's-early 1990's but we haven't seen too much of it since (other than pen turning)
It's a great way to make use of small cutoffs and scraps and is also a great hobby if space is an issue (Google "Bonnie Klein Woodturning" and check out her miniature lathes and tools to see what we mean)
We also have a Klein miniature lathe here at the shop if you want to check one out in person.
Great picture! Repost @esotericsurvey

Check out these HUGE Parota pivoting theater doors by @jasonmapel!
Remember that image we posted a few weeks back of the large Parota slab sticking out the back of an SUV?
Well here's the work in progress.
We can't wait to see the finished pictures once the doors are sanded and oiled!

Here's a closer look at the "smaller" Parota cross-cut slabs that just arrived last week (see lower left in image)
We have 10 of these slabs left (two have already sold)
All measure roughly 4" thick x 36-44" in diameter ($750/each, buy 2 or more and get 10% off!)
We've checked the moisture level on a few of them and they all seem dry and ready to finished.
See other images for an idea of what these slabs will look like once finished into coffee tables (clockwise starting from upper left: @chastaincreations , customer Andrew Virata, @timber_library )
Slabs will be listed online later this week but if you'd like to purchase before then, please feel free to contact us directly or drop by the shop to check them out. 760.268.1080
(we will try to get some images posted of the "large" and "extra-large" rounds in the next few days)

Cocobolo abstract sculpture by Robyn Horn!
We supplied Robyn with this huge piece of Cocobolo back in the late 1980's and have been a fan of her work ever since.
As mentioned on her website, Robyn is drawn to geometric shapes, different textures, negative spaces and the effects of light and shadow in her pieces.
At first glance her sculptures look rather simple but they all start to really reveal themselves the more you look at them and take in all the details.
We love it!

50 year-old reclaimed Mahogany! Check out these unique shelves @chastaincreations made for local coffee shop @leapcoffee (Pretty neat looking wood, don't you think?)
This particular batch of Mahogany was imported into the country in the 1960's by the @robertovenn.school.of.luthiery (one of the premier guitar making schools in the country)
After changing hands a few times (and laying out in the Arizona sun for well over 20 years) we were offered the stock a few years ago.
This 8/4 lumber came to us pretty oxidized and weathered but as you can see by the picture, the pieces do clean up beautifully once surfaced and finished.
Along with the lumber, we also received a variety of other neat pieces in the load: buttress root slabs (over 60 slabs in unique shapes and sizes), 3,000 BF of large 4-5 inch thick weathered beams, stumps/logs and more.
It's been a lot of fun seeing our clients get creative and use this material in an assortment of different projects: guitars, wood wall cladding, free form sculptures, conference room tables, fireplace mantles, segmented woodturning, dining tables, bartops, exhibition booth displays, knife scales, surfboard fins, interior trim work in luxury cars, etc. The list goes on and on!
Like the look of this wood and want to use some in your next project?

Solid Lignum Vitae Desk!
Ever watch the AMC television series Better Call Saul?
If so, remember when Jimmy McGill mentioned he wanted to one day own a solid Cocobolo desk?
Well this desk by one of our customers completely blows that idea out of the water!
Made out of different true Lignum Vitae subspecies that Chris has collected over the years, the desk measures roughly 99" x 35" x 29" and weighs approximately 800 pounds!
95% of the desk is made out of a mix of Guaiacum officinale and Guaiacum sanctum (native to the Dominican Republic). The drawer faces are Guaiacum coulteri (Mexico) and the drawer handles are Guaiacum angustifolium (true Lignum Vitae species that is native to southern Texas and surround parts of northern Mexico. Yup that wasn't a typo, Lignum Vitae grows in Texas!)
NEAT STUFF!
Also as a friendly FYI please note that in order to be TRUE Lignum Vitae "Guaiacum" needs to be listed as the genus. So If you've been purchasing "Argentine Lignum Vitae" (Bulbesia sarmientoi) and think you have the real deal, we are sorry to break the news to you.
