Here's a little background on this this special case: Made for John C. Barnes (my wife's grandfather who recently passed and served 20 years in the United States Air Force) by Mace Stanley (Tropical Exotic Hardwoods owner Mitch Talcove's high school friend) from hand selected wood out of legendary woodturner and tool innovator Jerry Glaser's private stash from the 1960's.
John C. Barnes was a woodworker himself and always picked Oak as his wood of choice in all his pieces of furniture so we figured some 50 year old seasoned quartersawn Oak out of Jerry's personal stash would be an obvious choice for his flag box.
