Padouk Tabletop by Tassajara Designs
Mike Wells of Tassajara Designs recently sent us these images of a large padouk dining table he is currently working on.
The neat thing about the tabletop is how Mike constructed it. Originally the padouk slab was 1.5" thick, 33" wide and 195" long (see last picture). Mike cut the slab in half and laid the pieces side by side making sure the grain match the figure. If you look really closely to where the two halves were glued up you will notice that the inside edges were actually cut at an angle with a slight taper in the overall width. This allowed Mike to follow the natural grain of the slab and create a seamless joint that gives the illusion of a solid 1 piece top-creative!
Anyways, the top is now complete and Mike has begun working on the matching base using the left over material. The ingenuity of our clients never ceases to amaze us!
Mike will send us over some images of the completed project once he is done.
Like the look of this tabletop?
