USS "California" Teak Decking....

Here is a picture of 40 LF of teak decking off the USS battleshop "California" that was recently purchases by one lucky customer in Minnesota.

I wonder what he will make with this?

In case you are curious, here is some information on the 400 LF of teak decking we were able to get a hold of a few years back-

  • Commissioned in 1919, decommissioned 1947, scraped 1959
  • Attacked & sunk at Pearl Harbor in 1941, raised and repaired a year later, used in WWII and Korea
  • This teak was cut almost 100 years ago!!!

We love finding unique and interesting stashes of wood such as this teak decking!

Hopefully one day some of this stock will end up in a museum of some sort for future generations to appreciate.

Speaking of which-

Here are some samples of this unique stock that will be personally hand delivered to a few of the memorials in Honolulu during the Christmas break.

Beautiful Parota Dining Table by Chris Eden...

Chris just sent us these images of his recently completed table.

We sell a bunch of these large Parota slabs but we always get excited when we receive new pictures of finished tables!

Here is a little more information on the table from Chris's email:

"...the legs are the cut of end of the slab and a 12" I-beam. The stretchers are two 10" c channels. All recycled materials I just picked up at a scrap iron yard. I thought the narrow leg on one end would be a little tipsy, but it ended up being very stable..."

What do you think about Chris's table?

Pretty nice, huh?!

Below is a picture of the raw slab Chris purchased from us a few months ago.

Isn't it amazing how these slabs just come to life once finished?!

We still have over 30 of these large Parota slabs in stock and several more on their way up from our sawmill in Mexico. (Click here to sign up for our newsletter to receive an update once they arrive...)

If you think you may be interested in a large slab such as this one, click here to view our full inventory of slabs on our website.
